Police has detained six people over the murder of Adam Mulongo a city lawyer.

Mulongo, 37, a commercial lawyer with JABO & Co. Advocates was allegedly killed by unknown assailants on Sunday morning as he approached his home in Ntinda-Kigoowa, a Kampala suburb.

The assailants are reported to have hit his car window using boulders before pouncing on him. He later succumbed to injuries at Kadic Hospital where he had been rushed.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Emillian Kayima, the suspects were arrested during an operation carried out on Monday.

"We had an operation in areas of Ntinda, Kigoowa, Kiwatule and Kisaasi where we apprehended the suspects purportedly involved in the crime" he said.

He added that they will hold an identification parade to screen the suspects because some of the deceased's neighbors saw the thugs as they fled the scene.

"We will also corroborate the vital evidence picked at the crime scene such the finger prints to see whether they tally with the suspects before arraigning them in court," he said.

Kayima declined to reveal the identities of the suspects so as not jeopardize investigations.

Mulongo's death comes amid heightened cases of murder by unknown assailants in different parts of the country.
