FAITH | PEACE
The Prefect of the Catholic Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, Cardinal Fernando Filoni has spoken highly of the role of Catechists in the evangelisation of the people.
He said that the religious instructions, which the Catechists give to the Christians, provide a firm foundation of the faith of the respective Christians.
"We know that you work under difficult conditions. Some times you even work without money. But this must not discourage you. Continue to serve God with all your heart and soul. God, who sent you to work in his Church will reward you," the Prelate said.
He was giving his address to the Catechists of Kampala Archdiocese at the Catholic Martyrs Shrine, Munyonyo, on Saturday. Cardinal Filoni asked the Catechists to preach the gospel message of love with even more zeal, to be able to prevail over the socio-political and economic problems that continue to inflict suffering on people.
"Today many people have been displaced from their homes because of violence. Your country alone has over one million refugees fleeing violence in South Sudan. These refugees look to you for consolation. Humanity is also challenging you to do more to promote love, peace, justice, forgiveness and reconciliation."
