19-yr-old Challa Elma wins Miss Tourism crown

She will represent Uganda at the Miss Tourism World competition in Malaysia

After a gruelling seven months of traversing 12 clusters of Uganda searching for Uganda's next tourism ambassador, the night belonged to Miss Tourism Karamoja who claimed the coveted Miss Tourism 2017 crown.

Challa Elma beat 11 others from Ankole, Buganda, Bunyoro, Kigezi, West Nile, Eastern, Busoga and Northern Uganda in the finale held at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

Elma won a BMW Mini Cooper and will represent Uganda at the Miss Tourism World competition in Malaysia scheduled for January 2018.

The other categories were Miss Congeniality which went to Rita Tumuhimbise, Miss Tourism Sports Queen won by Gertrude Jokudu who also claimed Miss Personality and Tourism Multi Media Queen, Miss Talent went to Jackline Ahura and Face of Radiant went to Anita Ayebare.

Other winners were Jessica Aanyu (Miss Photogenic), Beatrice Katumba (Miss Conservation), Gertrude Amuge (Miss Tourism Beach Beauty), Gloria Alele (Best National Costume & Face of Ssese Habitat Resort) and Mary Nakimuli (Miss Independent) who has a hearing and speech impairment.
