The Electoral Commission has set November 14 as the polling day for village council and committee elections for women.

The National Women's Council has urged women who wish to contest for leadership positions at all levels in the upcoming women councils and committee's election to register ahead of the polls.

The Electoral Commission has set November 14 as the polling day for village council and committee elections for women.

The MP representing persons with disabilities from Eastern region, Hellen Grace Asamo, says voting shall be by electoral college, noting that only registered voters will be eligible to contest for any leadership position at any level.

Asamo calls upon all women to take part in the elections, saying that the new council once elected will be mainly tasked to ensure the women directly benefit from the different government programmes.
