Home sick! Who told you refugees are always supposed to feel this way?

Recently, refugees under their umbrella the Refugee Youth Network Uganda, were treated to different classic traditional dances from refugee groups from different countries. They showcased their talents while celebrating the International Youth day.

The refugees pulled  sleek dance moves, which reminded them of their traditions back home.

"Back then, our country Democratic Republic of Congo, suffered from the Mai Mai. We are enjoying the basic needs here. Dancing to the tunes of Congolese Music in such a gathering makes me feel at home," Ruremesha Chrinore, who fled from his country three years ago, said.

The most exciting was the ‘ritual dance of the royal drums'; a Burundian traditional dance where drums are matched with the traditional songs of peace.

Those in attendance, were surprised by the way the dancers made synchronised moves.

This dance started with that vigorous stumping of the feet, followed by the thunderous drumming of the huge wooden-rimmed drums.

The dance which was placed on 2014 UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list, drew attention from the audience.

The men in the troupe moved round the stage performing making their right feet touch the front of the drums they were carrying on their heads. They jumped as though they had been assigned to fetch something from the skies.

The women shook their chests like they wanted them off.
