The Uganda Swimming Federation has announced a total of sixteen swimmers to represent Uganda at this year's CANA ZONE III from October 18 to 21 in Tanzania's capital, Dare salaam.

National coach Tony Kasujja will lead a strong cast that includes Avice Meya, Merceides Mwebeiha, Nanette Namuli, Rachael Galinda, Kirabo Namutebi, Zarah Nsubuga, Francesco Kagugube, Darren Ssamula, Ben Kaganda, Samora Byansi, Tendo Mukalazi, Alvin Emilu, Samora Lumonya, Alvin Okware, Peter Mbabazi and Diana Athieno

"There is confidence in the swimmers that have made the cut. We shall use some local events in between to further prepare them for the challenge," Moses Mwase, the general secretary of Uganda Swimming Federation, said.

The much-anticipated event is contested between Uganda, Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Sudan. Uganda will look to better her previous performance, where they finished third overall in Rwanda last year.

It should, however, be remembered that Uganda won the 2015 edition of this particular event when it was hosted in Kampala.
