URSB wins government agency of the year award

The Awards are an annual event that recognize the contributi on of Agencies and corporate bodies towards Private sector growth. URSB registers business names, companies, business and legal documents, Chattel Securities, Intellectual Property like trademarks, Patents, Copyright, utility models and designs; Civil marriages, and Acts as Official Receiver in Insolvency matt ers.

URSB has executed a number of reforms aimed at easing the starti ng of a business and improving the ‘Doing Business Environment' in the country. The last three years have been marked by the transformation of business registration services from manual registrati ons to automated processes leading to a remarkable improvement in turnaround ti me.

A reformed business registrati on process improves the private sector development, indirectly creati ng many jobs and playing a crucial role in the fi ght against poverty. Business registrati on reforms therefore are the fi rst step towards an improved ‘Doing Business Environment' in the country.

The Second National Development Plan provides for URSB to offer a fast, effective and effi cient registration service. The institution has simplifi ed and streamlined business registration and business licensing procedures and created a one stop- shop for business registration and an online information licenses portal for business licensing.
