Lydia Tumushabe, the regional police spokesperson said the police has not yet ascertained what could have caused the fire.

The police in Kyenjojo are still comparing notes and investigating what could have caused a fire out break at Kyenjojo Development Radio (KDR).

On Tuesday night fire broke out from the main room that houses the studio before spreading to the production studio.

Property worth millions of shillings was destroyed.

The radio station owned by the areas MP and former minister for privatization, Aston Kajara is located in Kyenjojo town council along the Kyenjojo-Mubende highway opposite the district main police station.

Lydia Tumushabe, the regional police spokesperson said  the police has not yet ascertained what could have caused the fire.

"We are still investigating and recording statements from staff members who were present at that time the fire broke out," Tumushabe said.

She explains that despite the delay by the police fire brigade unit to arrive at the scene, the entire building was saved from the damage.

"By the time the police fire brigade arrived from the regional offices in Fort Portal in Kabarole district, everything inside had burnt down but we managed to save the building," Tumushabe said.

Twenge Masanyarazi, the radio director said the radio was off for about 12 hours.

"We are back on air with the help of the old machines that we had," Twenge told the New Vision on phone.

Twenge however declined to comment on allegations that the radio could have been torched by the yet unknown people who accuse its director of supporting the amendment of the presidential age limit.
