Blick won a record 660 trophies during his career

Sports legend Arthur Blick Snr has urged the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) to start up a championship for ordinary standard cars.

Blick explained that this will help encourage more drivers to join motorsport especially motor rallying which also increases the fan base and is good marketing for the sport.

"During our days, we used to drive standard cars and could only modify them on a few things to suite the safety measures and one could win because of skills," the 70-year-old stated.

The 14 time national champion and three time East African motocross champion added that today's rallies are won especially by money.

"These days one who buys the strongest machine stands high chances of winning which discourages so many talents to join the sport because they look at it as expensive," Blick explained.

He lauded FMU and Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) and Nile Special for honouring him when he was a warded the legendary award for his achievements and contribution to Ugandan sports.

Blick won a record 660 trophies during his career before a bike crash ended his run.
