How to make your own classy sunburst mirror

A good attractive mirror is one of the key features of interior decor.

More often than not, it is the go-to element for a focal point of a room and there is a good reason for that. Mirrors are often used to make the room seem bigger and lighter as well.

There is little reason to argue why you would want to add a mirror to your decor. Create something fabulous and have fun while doing it.

You have seen these mirrors, right? They are known as sunburst mirrors and they are everywhere right now. The best thing about them is that they may be on trend right now, but they also have a classic look that you could have on your walls for many, many years.

Being the trend, they cost an arm and a leg right now. But you can achieve this look at a tiny fraction of the going rate.

What you will need

Mirror (preferably one you already have), bamboo sticks or bamboo skewers, gold spray paint, hot glue and glue gun and anchors for hanging.

You could add painter's tape to the back of the mirror where you want your longest points to be on the mirror. It is helpful to have a guide instead of just winging it. It will also give the final product a much more balanced look.

Once you have your painter's tape guide in place, start hot gluing bamboo skewers one or two at a time longer to shorter, shorter to longer. You can get an idea from the picture. Adding the skewers does not take long - maybe 45 minutes.

After attaching all the skewers, spray the back of the skewers with a couple coats of gold spray paint, then flip the whole thing over (after drying, of course) and give it about five thin coats of spray paint on the front. You can re-coat within 30 seconds and you will find that it goes on evenly and smoothly.
