Man commits suicide after heart break

Emmanuel Gumisiriza, 34, a resident of Kizungu cell in Njeru division, Buikwe district has committed suicide following divorce from his wife.

Gumisiriza's body was discovered in his rented house by neighbours.

Landlady Aminah Mutesi said they last saw Gumisiriza on Thursday last week and that it was after they investigated a foul smell coming from his room that they discovered his remains.

She said on breaking the door, they discovered the deceased's body hanging, a shirt used as the noose.

Residents said Gumisiriza worked at a pork joint at Nile in Njeru division and that his wife, who they only identified as Jackeline, was also employed at the same joint, serving drinks to customers.

They discovered a note saying goodbye to Jackline and telephone contacts of his family members.

Nsubuga said Gumisiriza always told friends that he still loved Jackline.

Njeru Police officers, led by Police commander Michael Ndidde were called to the scene and took the body to the Jinja mortuary for postmortem.

Getting a comment from Jackeline was futile.
