It was the 5th match of the first gameweek to end goalless
Uganda Premier League
Express 0 Kirinya 0
URA 2 UPDF 1
Embattled Express narrowly escaped defeat as they secured a point from Kirinya Jinja SS on Wednesday in the Azam Uganda Premier League at Wankulukuku Stadium.
The Red Eagles, who regrouped few days to league kick-off after losing a big pool of players, had their goalkeeper Godwin Buule as the man of the match after putting in a string of saves.
But the match's centre referee Ali Kaddu left so many questions unanswered after officiating poorly especially to the visitors.
Kaddu would have awarded Kirinya a penalty few minutes to the end of the match after Express defender Omar Hitimana shoved Musa Esenu in the box.
Meanwhile, URA opened their campaign on a high note as they moved joint top of the table with SC Villa at three points.
The Tax Collectors beat UPDF 2-1 at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
Fred Okot and Labamba Bokota each had a goal for URA FC while Walter Lunbankene scored a consolation for the army side.
