Three of the 11 suspects who escaped from police cells in Gulu district last week during a heavy rain down pour, have been re-arrested by the Police.


They were arrested on Friday evening from their different hideouts in Gulu town, following police intelligence network.

The suspects were facing multiple charges, ranging from robbery, criminal trespass, threatening violence, malicious damage to property and cattle theft.

The Aswa river region police public relations officer, Patrick Jimmy Okema, confirmed the arrests, but declined to reveal their identity for fear of jeopardising investigations.

He said the trio has been slapped with fresh charges of escaping from lawful custody, since their files had been sanctioned.

Police is on the lookout for other suspects who escaped. The suspects are Ronald Guma, Isaac Onen, Innocent Ochaya, Eric Opio, Daniel Rubangakene, Daniel Akene, Geoffrey Okwera, Emmanuel Otim, Simon Okema, and Ocaya Richard.

The Uganda police publicist, Assan Kassigye, called on the public to help them identify the remaining suspects, so they can be re-arrested.
