Museveni meets new UN Special Envoy to Burundi

They discussed the ongoing peace reconciliation process in Burundi

President Yoweri Museveni has received and held a meeting with the new United Nations Special Representative to Burundi, Michael Kafando, who called on him on Monday at State House, Entebbe. 

Kafando, a seasoned diplomat from Burkina Faso, was appointed in May this year. 

Museveni and his guest discussed the ongoing peace reconciliation process in Burundi. 

Kafando's role entails leading and coordinating the UN political efforts to promote peace and sustainable developments in Burundi as well as providing assistance to the efforts of the East African Community (EAC) for political dialogue among Burundi stakeholders. 

Kafando was accompanied by the United Nations Development Programme representative in Uganda, Rosa Malango.
