Police are processing the case file to ensure that the aggrieved family attains justice

Police in Katakwi is investigating an elderly man suspected of murdering a man over the affections of a widow.

Vincent Omauku, 75, alleged to have to have fatally injured Michael Malinga, 40, using a machete on Thursday in a fight for Domitila Asengo, 65, whom both have been cohabiting with.

Bashir Siriba, Katakwi District Police Commander told New Vision the suspect was detained under case file number CRB355/2017 on murder charges.

Siriba noted that they found empty sachets of alcohol in the house where the incident occurred and Police are processing the case file to ensure that the aggrieved family attains justice.

Joseph Icila, the area LC1 chairperson said that the death has caused worry in the community but called on locals to be calm as Police handles the matter.

He urged witnesses to help avail Police with relevant information to ensure that investigations go smoothly.

Malinga is survived by children while Omauku was charged 12 cows as compensation for the incident.
