KAMPALA - Five members of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) have so far picked nomination forms to contest for the presidency of the party.

These include Kawempe South MP Mubarak Munyagwa, Patrick Amuriat, Moses Byamugisha, Moses Bakubi Bakubira, and Malcom Matsiko.

Apart from Munyagwa (pictured below) and Amuriat, who is a former MP for Kumi County, the rest of the candidates are relatively unknown in Ugandan politics.

Whereas picking of nomination forms kicked off about two weeks ago, party president Gen. Mugisha Muntu and the secretary general Nathan Nandala Mafabi have not yet picked nomination forms.

Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in Najjankumbi, the party's deputy spokesperson Paul Mwiru said the exercise of picking forms would be closed on August 12, 2017.

Mwiru displayed a letter from Mafabi clarifying that he had not sent anyone to pick forms for him.
