Over 1000 former Park Yard vendors have been given sh100m from Ham Enterprises. The Enterprise director, Hamis Kiggundu also the Nakivubo Stadium developer handed over the money on Friday.

The vendors were evicted early this year to pave way for the re-development of Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium.

A number of the affected vendors complained Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) of the bank loans they were servicing at the time of eviction which affected business.

According to KCCA Executive Director, Jennifer Musisi, they held a meeting with the stadium developer to help the vendors service their loans.

On February 8, Kampala minister, Beti Kamya, wrote to Musisi requesting for the clearance of illegal vendors from Park Yard, situated on Plot 26 Nakivubo Place.

In her letter, Kamya said she received a letter from the Board of Trustee of Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium asking her to extend instructions for vendors to vacate illegal stations.
