NAIROBI - Uganda's Joel Kiplangat progressed to the 2000m steeplechase final on Friday in Nairobi Kenya.
But countrymate Vincent Chemutai fell short.
Kiplangat finished fourth in heat one, clocking 5:56.54 to qualify automatically for the final.
Chemutai, who at the end of the race seemed to have suffered a muscle cramp, clocked 6:15.15 and finished 8th in heat two. That was way off the qualification mark.
Meanwhile, Uganda's Titus Kwemboi and Oscar Chelimo will be in action in the 3000m final (boys) on Sunday, the last day of the IAAF World U18 Championships.
