Former Kawempe Muslim striker Sandra Nabweteme has been nominated in the American Legacy Awards for her performances for Southwestern Oklahoma State University in the 2016/17 season.

Nabweteme has been nominated in the Record-Breaking Performance of the Year category with fellow teammate Alimata Rabo from Burkina Faso.

The duo finished joint top scorers for their university in the league with 22 goals from 19 games. They also had nine assists each in the season.

Rabo is also nominated in the Breakthrough Female Athlete of the Year category.

This won't be Nabetweme's first time to be nominated for an award. In her first season last year, the Crested Cranes player was voted Freshman of the year and First Team All-Conference Forward at the Great American Conference Awards.

She was second in the scoring charts with 19 goals and 8 assists in the Great American Conference League.

Nabweteme is considered to be one of the best female footballers in the country.
