This follows a request by state prosecutor Caroline Apio to his case adjourned to a later date.

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) President Dr. Kiiza Besigye has vowed never to return to Nakawa Chief Magistrate's Court to answer charges of treason.

This follows a request by state prosecutor Caroline Apio to have the case adjourned due to incomplete investigations.

"The case is coming for further mention but since investigations are still on-going. I pray that the matter is adjourned," Apio asked the court presided over by Grade One Magistrate Noah Sajjabi. This prompted him to adjourn the case to September 1, 2017

"I do not mind if my bail is cancelled and sent back to Luzira. I have already negotiated that with my lawyers," Besigye said.

Besigye further stated that he has no case to answer in connection with the treason case, adding that his arrest, detention and eventual charging was part of the coup process that was conducted by President Yoweri Museveni to overthrow the will of people of Uganda last year.

Prosecution alleges that between February 18 and May 11, Besigye, in various places in Wakiso and Kampala districts, incited the people to overthrow the Government.

He is also accused of declaring himself the President of Uganda after claiming to have won the February 18 presidential elections.nt.
