A1 Challenge secures sh90m sponsorship

The sponsorship will go to covering players’ salaries

With new sponsors coming on board, the founder A1 Challenge basketball team Rosette Sayson Meya has vowed the team will put in a better displays in league games and in their annual outreach programs.

"We are grateful to Uganda Clays for the sponsorship availed to us and I believe their coming on board is a great move that will help boost our team and enable us fulfill our women empowerment programs," said Meya. 

The team officially unveiled Uganda Clays as their new sponsors to the tune of Ugandan sh90m for the 2017 National Basketball League season. 

The deal which started in May this year was announced Tuesday in a press briefing held at Lugogo Indoor Stadium and will run until December. 

According to the Uganda Clays managing director, George Inholo, the partnership will help lift the game of basketball especially among women. 

"Like A1 Challenge we (Uganda Clays) believe in empowering the girl child and we are proud to be partnering with them," said Inholo. 

"Our partnership is aimed at taking women's basketball to another level and we have spotted A1 Challenge as the best team partner with to reach out to females out there," he added. 

The sponsorship will go to covering players' salaries, fulfilling the club's outreach programs and the running of the day to day activities of the club among others things. 

A1 Challenge is one of the traditional ladies' teams in Uganda that has stood the taste of time.  

The club's outreach programs are also designed to inspire the girl child to enhance a better life, education, a life of empowerment, achieving their dreams and becoming role models within their communities and societies. 

The team was last at Gayaza High School early this year educating students on agribusiness projects.
