The Judicial Service Commission has been asked to split the court into four magisterial branches

A shortage of resident magistrates has hit Soroti Chief Magistrate Court.

The court serves the eight districts of Kaberemaido, Soroti, Amuria, Katakwi, Serere, Bukedea, Ngora and Kumi.

According to Chief Magistrate Ruth Nabbaza, this has affected the efficiency of the court.

"The situation has also left many residents in region craving for justice" Nabbaza stated.

She asked the Judicial Service Commission to split the court into four magisterial branches.

This she said would help reduce the workload she is currently battling with.
