Scrap Buyers face tough title defence

It’s clear that the Buyers have decided to go with experience to revitalise the team

Scrap Buyers will have to mount an immaculate title defence if they want to retain the senior league title this season.

The heavy defeat delivered by the expensive CKI in the Super Cup recently left captain Wasswa Kayiya wary of their chances.

"Defending our trophy this year will be a little hard because most teams have done well in the transfer window; we have let a few players go and brought a few in to help with the title defence" Kayiya said.

Buyers released Salim Akankwasa, Andrew Kabubi, Navy Matovu and Ismail Kamoga to bring in Jonah Turigye, Denis Nyombi and Yuda Sembusi to bolster the depleted line up.

Just by looking at the new signings it's clear that the Buyers have decided to go with experience as they think of ways to revitalise the team.

"These particular players are more experienced which is always a big help. Last year we won the league without them, but they will help us this season."

"Like in any other sport we have prepared ourselves. To many people, we are in fourth place on paper but we shall put up a good fight as we try to defend our title," Kayiya said.

Kayiya's thoughts stem from how other teams have signed this season which puts their defence in jeopardy.

Scrap buyers will open their account against Elite Klein in Nyendo, Masaka on Sunday.
