Kwibuka Women's T20 Tournament

Rwanda 52/6 Uganda U19 53/4 (Uganda win by 6 wickets)

It was a great start for a sublime Uganda U19 Women's team in the Kwibuka Women's T20 Tournament as Rita Musamali and Jane Baluka's fuel the visitors' 6 wickets win against Rwanda's National Team Thursday at Kicukiro Oval in Rwanda.

Masaka SS' Jane Baluka claimed 3 wickets as a relatively weaker Rwandan side were restricted to 52 runs from their 20 allotted overs a score that only took the Uganda U19s who are a select side from this year's UCA Girls Schools Cricket Week just 10 overs to chase.

Jinja SS' Rita Musamali top-scored in the game (14 off 13 balls) before she was bowled out by Betty Mukunzi who impressively took 4 wickets in a fixture where Uganda elected to bowl after winning the toss.

The victory is a quick reminder of Uganda's Girls Select side previous dominance in the meet and certainly they are ready to defend the title they won last year.

Interestingly the competition is likely to be between the two Ugandan sides in the meet.

It should be understood that there is also the Uganda U23 team in this 23rd edition. They are also in action later today against the Kenyan National team.

The tournament will partly serve as an opportunity for some players to impress ahead of the Africa T20 World Cup Qualifiers September in Namibia.

The Kwibuka Cricket tournament is held in memory of those who lost their lives during the Rwanda Genocide.
