Pregnant woman grossly murdered after rape

The deceased was discovered at around 3pm in the afternoon by a nearby resident who had gone to harvest maize and saw strange footsteps in his garden.

A 19 year old pregnant lady identified as Gorrett Nansubuga, a roadside chips vendor near Nkumba University was on Wednesday afternoon discovered dead in a maize garden a few meters away from her rented apartment in Kasenyi zone, Abaita Ababiri in Katabi Town Council.

The deceased was discovered at around 3pm in the afternoon by a nearby resident who had gone to harvest maize and saw strange footsteps in his garden.

The resident who declined to disclose his names revealed that out of curiosity, he decided to follow the footsteps and to the shock of his life, he discovered a girl who was mercilessly raped and murdered by goons yet to be identified.

After raping the young lady, the murderers thereafter pushed a stick into her private parts, leaving the dead body in a pool of blood.

The garden owner notified Abaita Ababiri police which immediately swung into action and rushed to the scene.

According to Sylvia Kirabo with whom the deceased was staying, "Nansubuga left us at the chips stall from where we work and went back home at around midnight but by the time i reached home, she was not there yet she had left her phone in the house."

She went ahead to explain that the deceased never returned till her body was discovered in the  neighbor's garden the following day.

The Abaita OC Station James Kakaana confirmed the cold blood incident and said that the body would be taken to Mulago Hospital for postmortem as the search for the heartless murderers goes on.

Kakaana further warned that the culprits if netted, will face the full arm of the law.

Meanwhile, Sylvia Kirabo the deceased's colleague was taken to Abaita Police Station to help police in the investigations.

Other chips vendors who have been working with the deceased revealed that she a couple of times complained about unidentified persons who chased and threatened her on three separate incidences while returning to her house from work late in the night.

They said that since then, Nansubuga has been requesting for friends and colleagues to escort her back home after work though this time they were surprised when she did not.

 

The deceased's pregnancy was estimated to be six months old though her suspected husband a UPDF Soldier(names withheld) operating in Masindi District, couldn't be traced by press time. The deceased who was also popularly known as Harriet by her fellow Chips vendors, was described as a humble and quiet fellow.
