Cape Verde v Uganda Cranes - Praia, Estádio da Várzea

Despite two consecutive barren draws against Ethiopia and Senegal, Uganda Cranes coach Milutin Sredejovic is confident that his team is ready for the opening AFCON qualifier against Cape Verde at Estádio da Várzea, Praia.

Uganda Cranes put together a defensive masterclass against Senegal with second choice goalkeeper Ismael Watenga, who replaced Benjamin Ochan making crucial saves that included punching away Chiekh Ndoye's goal bound shot over the bar.

"Our interest was to balance the game between defence and looking for goals. I'm happy we managed to keep the opponents away. I'm satisfied with the performance," Sredejovic said at the post match press conference.

Indeed, the defence line up that had Wadada and Godfrey Walusimbi, Murshid Juuko and Bernard Muwanga has shown a high level of fitness which was also exhibited in Hawassa, Ethiopia.

Now, Sredejovic is convinced that two draws in Hawassa in Ethiopia and Senegal in Dakar are enough to motivate his team in the AFCON qualifier against Cape Verde.

"We have just come from AFCON finals and every country must be looking at us. That is why we have to maintain our googd performances because any team playing will always try to come all out," Cranes team captain Hassan Wasswa said.

All the players on the squad were given opportunity to impress ahead of the game against Cape Verde
