As far as curtain raisers go, the 2017 Super Cup gave a good account of the expectations for the upcoming pool season.

The season's curtain raiser usually involves the winners of the Senior League and the winners of the club's Knockout.

On the men's side, Scrap Buyers faced the big spending pharmaceutical company CKI. With the latter coming in as the clubs knockout champions and the former as the senior league champions, the stage was set for a nail-biting affair.

That was never the case because the Scrap Buyers were heavily over powered in all categories. The youthful artillery available to CKI wreaked havoc on the Scrap Buyers who became the unfortunate lot for the litmus test for their squad depth.

Led by Uganda's top seed Sula Matovu, CKI were always ahead of the park.

As favourites, it was quite easy for CKI as they went on to defeat the Scrap Buyers by 13-07.

The woman's game between Skin Samona the Clubs knockout champions and Hot Pool, the league champions, was a tight affair that was only decided by an error.

Skin Samona managed the upset of the day when they defeated hot pool by 09-07. The two teams have done a lot of business in the off season and the competitiveness was quite telling for both teams.

Sharon Mirembe was tasked with helping her team level the score in order to send the match into a decider a job she failed at because of luck.
