Maize flour, rice prices up

Maize flour has always been an alternative mostly for low imcome earners to feed their families. A survey conducted by the New Vision shows hiked prices per a kilogram. 

"The price skyrocket to sh3, 000 from sh 2,400 in the recent past in various Kampala suburbs and major Markets.

 
Sophia Kitatya, a retail shop attendant in Kanyanya attributes the hike to a long drought the country experienced early this year.

The cost of rice has also increased. It ranges from sh3,500 to sh4,000 a kilogram.

Edward Kyeyune, a shop attendant in Kawempe blames it on the poor performance of the economy.
