Fasting during the holy month will start on Saturday

Muslims in Uganda will, starting this Saturday, join other Muslims across the world in fasting, for the next 30 days, during the holy month of Ramadhan.

The director of Sharia at Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC), Sheikh Yahaya Ibrahim Kakungulu, had on Wednesday asked the Muslim community to watch the skies, for the sight of the moon, which was not sighted.

However in a statement on Thursday, Kakungulu confirmed that fasting would start on Saturday without fail.

"During the 30 days of fasting, Uganda Muslim Supreme Council, Taraweh prayers at the National Mosque, will be observed every evening, starting at 8:30pm, throughout the holy month of Ramadhan," Kakungulu noted.

He added that Ramadhan Darasas, will be conducted every Sunday, starting at 10am.
