COPA: Kitende progresses to quarterfinal

St Mary's Kitende brightened their chances of winning the COPA Coca-Cola football championship after they progressed to the quarterfinals.

Pius Wangi and Frank Tumwesigye's strikes in the first half enabled the giants beat St Joseph's Layibi 2-0 in the round of 16 on Tuesday at Masaka Recreation Ground.

In the other games, hosts Masaka eliminated Buddo SS 3-1 in penalties after a 1-1 draw while defending champions  Kibuli SS ejected Buhobe High School 3-0 in spot kicks after a goalless draw.
