May 15, 2017

The league organizers went further to condemn the continued acts of hooliganism and violence by Express FC fans

Proline has been awarded three points and three goals by the Uganda Premier League after their game with Express was last week abandoned at Wankulukuku Stadium after only 47 minutes.

In statement released by Uganda Premier League CEO, Bernard Bainamani, indicates that violence from Express fans led the game to be aborted.

"Reference is made to the Referee's report for the above mentioned match that was played on Tuesday 9th May 2017 at Wankulukuku Stadium and witnesses by persons of authority that Express FC fans started throwing stones in the 47th minute to the second assistant referee and on the field of play.

This was after one player of Express FC by the name of Onyebuchi Vincent collided with his goal keeper Katongole Fahad and fractured his leg. Police tried to restore calmness but failed and this went on for over 40 minutes thus causing the abandonment of the match. As per the reports, throwing of stones by Express FC fans caused the abandonment of the match," part of the statement read.

"Accordingly, Express FC loses the match by forfeiture. Therefore, Proline FC is awarded three (3) points and three (3) goals. In addition, Express FC is fined 1,000 UAs (one million shillings) payable to Uganda Premier League Secretariat."

The league organizers went further to condemn the continued acts of hooliganism and violence by Express FC fans despite previous sanctions against the club
