The National Resistance Movement (NRM) ruling party has listed corruption as the major challenge to implementation of the party's manifesto, for improved service delivery.

Unveiling the NRM manifesto implementation week, at the Uganda Media Centre in Kampala, Esther Mbayo, the Minister for Presidency noted that government had made steady progress on its promises, despite challenges of corruption by some public servants.

"One year down the road, the NRM has made tremendous progress. There has been effective service delivery through improvement on the infrastructure among other areas that affect development," Mbayo told journalists.

In a news conference, Mbayo noted that for improved and timely service delivery, President Yoweri Museveni, the chairman NRM party, had waged war on corrupt officials.

She pointed out the recent arrests of two officials from the Ministry of Finance, who were recently arrested by Police soliciting a bribe from investors.

Mbayo was in company of the NRM deputy secretary general, Richard Todwong and State Minister for Ethics, Simon Lokodo among other officials from the President's Office.

It is one year since President Museveni took oath of office for a fifth term.

In the run up to the 2016 elections, the NRM party produced a manifesto which aims at taking Uganda to modernity through job creation and inclusive development.

During the NRM manifesto implementation week, government  through different ministries, departments and agencies,  such as the roads and transport, will showcase and highlight some of the achievements since 2016 when NRM was re-elected into power.
