Two arrested over stolen cargo truck

The two suspects were arrested and taken to Gulu Police Station from where they were ferried to Mpala Police Station on Tuesday

Police in Entebbe, on Tuesday detained two suspects over a stolen cargo truck Mitsubishi Canter Registration number UAX 706M. The duo identified as Emmanuel Mwesigwa 28 years and Drake Ssekyanda 28 years, allegedly stole a truck belonging to Barnabas Kwesiga a clearing agent at Entebbe Airport, from his residence in Mpala zone, Katabi Town Council in Wakiso district at 3am last Saturday.

 


Kwesiga sounded an alarm to awaken the neighbors but didn't yield much as the thieves tactfully opened the car and sped off into thin air. He later contacted his relative working with the UPDF who coordinated with Police and URA, and the Vehicle was later intercepted in Gulu District, being driven by Sekyanda and Mwesigwa. The two suspects were arrested and taken to Gulu Police Station from where they were ferried  to Mpala Police Station on Tuesday plus the Truck.

The OC Station Mpala Police Post Joseph Sekitoleko confirmed the arrest and assured that the two suspected criminals will be paraded in the courts of law to answer charges in relation to theft vide SD Ref: 02/06/05/2017. He said that the thugs are part of a wider group that terrorizes people in Entebbe and Kampala, and further promised to hunt them down.
