Magogo speaks out on CAF committees

Magogo said that the appointments were in recognition of FUFA's effort

FUFA president Moses Magogo believes his appointment on the CAF Ex-committee and two other sub committees of women, beach soccer and futsal is not a surprise to him.

Magogo, who is currently attending the 67th FIFA Congress at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre in Manama attributed his success to supportive football stakeholders around his FUFA regime.

Magogo assumed office as FUFA president in August 2013 and his four-year reign comes to an end in three months with elections set for August in Masindi. So far, Magogo is the only one who has officially declared interest to contest for the position.

On Monday, he became the first Ugandan to be appointed on the CAF executive Committee. He was also appointed to the CAF reforms committee,  Africa Beach Soccer and Futsal Development Committee.

On the Women Football Committee, CAF has appointed Magogo as vice president to Siera Leone FA boss Johansen Insha.  He is also a member of CAF reforms committee that will spearhead a new way forward.

"Africa has once again recognised our (FUFA) efforts. Glory be to Allah. Together with my executive, FUFA staff, delegates, referees, players and all football stakeholders we achieve yet another milestone in the Uganda football journey," he continued.

"In 2000, I set a goal to be a member of the CAF Executive by 2020. I shared this with the 4th division clubs of Lubaga. I was still just a footballer at that time. Today in 2017, I have achieved this objective," Magogo said from Bahrain.

Magogo said that the appointments were in recognition of FUFA's effort to give women football and beach soccer and futsal development platforms.

The appointment means Magogo is a co-opted member, who can attend CAF meetings but without voting rights.
