Police in Obalanga sub-county in Amuria district has teamed up with clan leaders to combat land disputes through community policing.
The OC CID Obalanga police station Tom Omutoj, notes that they have stepped up community policing to reduce land disputes during this farming season.
He observed that they have registered a raise in land related cases in the last two weeks of heavy down pour.
The officer further warned locals against using violent measures like fighting to resolve land wrangles.
The Iteso Cultural Union (ICU) sub-county chairperson Michael Ediku cautioned clan chairpersons against taking sides while handling cases of land conflicts.
