On April 22, the Central Police Station (CPS) organized a community policing sports gala at Nakivubo Blue Primary School in Kampala that featured a host of activities including kickboxing, netball, marathon, acrobatics as well as an eating competition. Here, an acrobat performs fire breathing, a delicate act that involves a performer creating a precise mist of fuel from the mouth over an open flame.

Two days earlier, these Indian nomad youths were pictured playing in the water with their herd of buffaloes as they cooled off in the Tawi River on a hot day on the outskirts of Jammu. Heatwave conditions in northern Jammu and Kashmir state saw temperatures push past 41 degrees celsius.

It was a Tuesday. April 25, to be more precise. In the evening of local top tier football - the Azam Uganda Premier League - it was a battle on the top side of the table. Leaders and defending champions KCCA FC hosted Vipers SC at the Phillip Omondi Stadium in Kampala. Eventually, Vipers beat the holders 2-1, subjected Coach Mike Mutebi to his first home defeat at home that season. Geoffrey Wasswa and Tony Odur struck for Vipers while on-form Geoffrey Sserunkuuma netted the hosts' only goal.

KCCA coach Mike Mutebi had a frustrating evening that day but his side were still at the helm with two games in hand over second-placed SC Villa with whom they had the same number of points (48). But with continental duties (CAF Confederations Cup) beckoning, Mutebi knew how detrimental dropping league points was as the campaign drew closer to its conclusion.

A banana . . . anyone? This lady was pictured along Kampala road on April 26 carrying a basket of yellow small bananas (ndiizi) for sale.
