The Kelly Cup set the stage for the upcoming East Africa 7s and what a tournament that showcased a cast of talent.

David Onen's heroics made the difference for MUBS as they successfully defended the annual Lacrosse event Saturday at Makerere Rugby Grounds.

He was at his electric best guiding the defending champions to three straight wins in the round robin format.

The striker grabbed four goals in the 8-3 humbling of Panthers who were among the favourites going into the contest.

Sam Ochan netted 2 and Kenneth Lubanga added another. Andrew Bugembe and John Olukutom picked 2 and one respectively as consolation goals for the Nile Zulus.

Bahizi were scored a goal each when MUBS ran riot against YMCA to win 6-2 in yet another dorminant game.

Meanwhile Brenda Olama registered a match winning hatrick for Maroons against a spirited YMCA Lady Sharks .Maroons would win the ladies category at the first time of asking.

In the Juniors category, NileCrocs emerged champions after thumping Silverbacks Juniors 4-1 in the event was powered by Frank Kelly of the FCA Lacrosse in the United States.

Uganda will host the East Africa 7s later this year in August.
