Equatorial Guinea President, Obiang Nguema Mbasogo will on Wednesday start a two-day state visit to Uganda, State House officials, have said.

During the visit, Obiang and President Yoweri Museveni are expected to hold bilateral talks—ranging from investment, regional politics, trade and military cooperation.

The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) training team is currently deployed in Equatorial Guinea.

Obiang, who has been invited by Museveni, will arrive at Entebbe International Airport on Wednesday afternoon.

Obiang’s visit also signifies the solid relations between Kampala and Malabo that have been fermented over time.

During the commemoration of the 26th National Resistance Movement (NRM) day in 2012, Obiang was awarded the medal of Grand Master by Museveni for his work towards stability, peace and progress of Equatorial Guinea and Africa.

Obiang, who is the longest serving President in the world, captured power in 1979.
