Police in Kabale have in detention 12 students of Kabale Brainstorm High School over allegations of masterminding a strike at the school.

According to the Kabale district officer in charge of the criminal investigations department, Fredrick Wetaya, the lads were arrested on suspicion of leading a demonstration at the school in the early hours of Wednesday.

Police swang into action at the school on the invitation of the school administration after students had turned rowdy in the school and when they failed to calm down they were forced to fire teargas to disperse them.

After running battles with Police in the school, all students were ordered to go home.

Isaac Muhumuza, the school headteacher, said that all students had completed their end of term exams and they needed to go home but their reports were not yet ready.

However some of the students accused the school administration of not meeting their demands like provision of uniform and the mistreatment from some members of staff.
