Nebbi district faces drug shortage

According to Jakor anti malarial drugs have never been adequately delivered to Nebbi hospital while fansinder for pregnant mothers has not been delivered yet the medicines are not available in the clinics.

The district health officer Nebbi Dr.Jakor Oryema has said despite the continuous delivery of drugs in the hospitals by National medical stores, drug stock out has still remained a challenge.

According to Jakor anti malarial drugs have never been adequately delivered to Nebbi hospital while fansinder for pregnant mothers has not been delivered yet the medicines are not available in the clinics.

He says malaria accounts for 30% of inpatient admission and 40% of out patient visits at Nebbi general hospital.

Meanwhile Harriet Amia,the malaria focal point person in Nebbi district attributes the increase in malaria cases to misuse of mosquito nets.

She says most people don't use the mosquito nets at night but prefer to use them as ropes for tying goats which is not proper
