“After those losses I believed enough was enough, I was ready to stop them at all costs."

MASAKA - Sharon Mirembe overcame a pool of talented female players in the Masaka Easter Cup to take home sh.1m.

Last season's national league top scorer faced some of her toughest opponents in the league on her way to the victory.

"First of all, I beat Rita Nimusiima 4-0 in the quarter finals and Vicky 6-5 in the finals. It wasn't an easy job to do because both players have beaten me before at various tournaments."

The Hot Pool player was ready to end the losing streak at all costs and Friday was the day of reckoning for her.

"After those losses I believed enough was enough, I was ready to stop them at all costs, and I had enough training with the best coaches so I got it done."

In the midst of celebration Mirembe also rued the lost opportunity at some easy ranking points for the season.

"It's beyond unfortunate that I will miss out on the scores for this tournament because the scores can't count ion the ranking."

"Still believe that I can get the scores in the upcoming events because the association will be in place by then."

Lincoln Kaggwa also became the first man from the Masaka region to take home a major tournament. Most Masaka based players thrive in tournaments at home in the absence of the Kampala based players."

"It came as a great surprise when the Masaka boy overcame Amos Ndyagumanawe by 6-3 amidst a very partisan crowd. As the winner of the men's tournament Kaggwa earned himself sh.2m in cash.
