After 11 weeks of intrigues, tension, suspense, and a fiercely contested competition, Efe was declared winner of the Big Brother Naija reality TV show on Sunday evening, beating 11 other contenders.

The Economics graduate who loves to cook was the only male left standing with four other females, but received more than 50% of the votes cast to take home N25m (US$82,000) and a Kia SUV car courtesy of  MultiChoice Nigeria.

The show, which started in late January, has been showing on DStv Channel 198. It drew early criticisms when it was revealed that the Big Brother House was actually in Johannesburg, South Africa, and not Nigeria as widely thought. It was viewed all across Africa.

On Sunday's final show the host, former Big Brother Nigeria housemate Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, as usual kept everybody on suspense before announcing that of the last two housemates, Bisola and Efe, the winner was… EFE!

Efe was delighted and rushed across the stage, ripping off his T-shirt. He was later joined by the rest of the housemates on stage. TBoss was third while Debbie-Rise was fourth.

TBoss also won the least time in all Payporte games, while Bisola carted away the prize for having the best ONE campaign presentation for the education of the girl-child. TBoss was presented with a N500,000 cheque and Bisola will join the ONE Campaign team in New York City for the girl-child education at the United Nations.

The grand finale live audience and viewers were treated to music from two of Nigeria's biggest music stars: 2Baba and Tiwa Savage who performed her latest single "All Over".
