Maj Kiggundu murder suspects remanded

KAMPALA - Four suspects in the murder of Sheikh Major Muhammad Kiggundu and his bodyguard have been remanded further.

This was after state attorney Emilly Ninsiima informed court that inquiries in the case are still underway.

"Your worship, inquiries in the case are still ongoing. We pray that the case be further mentioned," said Ninsiima.

The accused include former acting Tabliq leader Sheikh Yahaya Mwanje.

Others are Muhammad Ssendegeya and Musa Buyondo.

Kiggundu was murdered on the morning of November 26, 2016 at Masanafu trading centre in Rubaga Division together with his bodyguard Sgt. Steven Mukasa.

He was heading to a local radio station for a Muslim talkshow.

Prosecution alleges that on the fateful day, the suspects and others at large murdered Kiggundu and his bodyguard.

The case has been adjourned to April 21 for further mention.
