Justice Geoffrey Kiryabwire, the chairperson Small Claims Implementation Committee has encouraged Ugandans to resort to the small Claims Court as a cheapest way to settle disputes describing it as efficient and effective.

The Small Claims Procedure (SCP) has been able, on average, to recover debts worth shs 600,000,000.

"This brings hope that when eventually all magistrates courts in Uganda take on SCP, then the impact will be significant," Kiryabwire noted.

Speaking at the Judiciary Small Claim Procedure (SCP) review meeting held in Kampala, Kiryabwire says however that there is little doubt the growth of the SCP will soon require the creation of its own registry and budget.

"I am confident that the SCP will continue to be a model reform for Ugandan Judiciary," he said.
