KAMPALA - When Vipers SC get back to league action this Friday against Kirinya Jinja SSS, they will travel to Kakindu Stadium with a mighty sense of belief and confidence inspired by result results.

The Kitende-based outfit are unbeaten in their last five league games - three wins and two draws.

That healthy streak was underlined by a resounding 3-0 victory at home over Mujib Kasule's Profile FC on Tuesday.

A brace by Brian Nkuubi on either side of the interval plus a first-half strike by Mike Sserumaga gave Vipers' Portuguese coach Jorge Miguel da Costa a lot to smile about.

ST. MARY'S A FORTRESS

And they are steadily turning their new stadium into a fortress. Vipers have won all their matches played at St. Mary's Stadium in all competitions.

Their inaugural game against South African side Platinum Stars in the CAF Confederations Cup (first leg) ended 1-0, thanks to Milton Karisa's strike.

Then came another home game: a Uganda Cup round of 16 date with Kiboga FC that saw Erisa Ssekisambu net five times in an comprehensive one-sided seven-goal thriller.

And after Tuesday's win over Proline, it means the Kitende side have kept clean sheets at home so far.

They leapfrogged URA FC and Onduparaka FC to climb to third of the table on 35 points and at 20 games, they have two games in hand over table-toppers SC Villa.

Will they maintain their resurgance in two days' time when they travel to the east?

KCCA FAIL TO CLIMB

Meanwhile, defending champions KCCA FC squandered an opportunity to climb back to the top after being held 1-1 away by Soana FC at Kavumba.

But on 42 points, they still have a healthy three games in hand over leaders SC Villa, who are two points adrift.

In Tuesday's game, on-form Geoffrey Sserunkuma's goal was cancelled out by Farouk Osama's strike in the course of the game.

In Matugga, Express FC beat Bright Stars 2-0 away to register  their fourth consecutive win in all competitions.

Joseph Semujju and Saddam Juma each scored as Express moved to fifth on 33 points.

Earlier, they had defeated Kirinya and Police FC in the league before eliminating Masavu FC over the weekend in the Uganda Cup with a 2-0 victory.

League action continues this Friday and Saturday.
