Nkumba v St. Lawrence (Wednesday, 3PM)

Nkumba University will launch their campaign in this year Nile Special University Football League against debutants St. Lawrence University with caution following the shock defeat they suffered in last season's final.

Nkumba head coach Patrick Sebuliba was settled heading in the last quarter of the game at Namboole when Kampala University came from two goals down to win 3-2 and lift the trophy.

"We are determined to return strongly and claim the title this time. Reaching the final boosted our confidence as a team and we have put the loss behind us. We are now focused on making it back to Namboole this season," Sebuliba said.

"We have a very good record at our home ground. But we have never played St Lawrence. We shall be cautious when we play them. I expect us to start the season on a high by securing all three points from the game," Sebuliba added.

Debutants St. Lawrence venture into a new competition where they hope to use some of their beach soccer players to make an impact.

"We have been waiting to play in the University Football League because we have very good players who want to prove themselves. We have been watching them play for the last 5 seasons and we know their style of play," St. Lawrence tutor, Peter Seguya said.
