Abducted KCCA clerk found by Police

He undergoing treatment after he was beaten during the ordeal

Mubarak Kalenga the KCCA central division clerk, who was feared kidnapped, has been found along Salaama Road in Makindye, a Kampala Suburb.

Police's Flying Squad commander Herbert Muhangi revealed to New Vision Police was able to track Kalenga's mobile phone but however declined to divulge more details saying it would jeopardize the investigations.

"We got information regarding his abduction so late but we were able to track his mobile phone. We found him and he was admitted at Case Hospital in Kampala. Details will be availed later since the matter is under investigation" he said.

Kalenga's relative who spoke to New Vision on condition of anonymity confirmed that Kalenga was undergoing treatment at Case Hospital because he was beaten during the ordeal.

"He (Mubarak) can't speak now since he is receiving treatment following the beatings by the abductors. Police cooperated so well and we are happy our relative is finally found" he said.

Efforts to get a comment from KCCA spokesperson Peter Kauju were futile as calls to his known mobile number went unanswered.

Kalenga also a lecturer at Kampala International University was abducted by three unknown people at around 7pm on Sunday evening at Afro-American Restaurant in Bukoto where he had gone to have a meal.

According to Julius Agasa, the restaurant manager, armed men dressed in civilian clothing abducted Kalenga as he approached his car after a meal.

"Three men came here and pretended as if they were customers too. They abducted him as he was approaching his car that was parked in our parking lot. He was beaten and taken to another car that was parked at the other side of the road. They then drove off to unknown destination" Agasa said.

He added that he called Kira Road Police to inform them about the abduction and later Police took away Kalenga's vehicle.
