Isabirye takes over at Soana FC

The former league winner has joined on a two year deal

Alex Isabirye has been named the new Soana FC coach replacing sacked George Lutalo for the next two seasons.

Isabirye, who resigned at Kirinya Jinja SS in December, has confirmed to New Vision Sport that he agreed a two season contract with Soana this morning.

One of his tasks will be to ensure that Soana that currently lies 6th with 25points on the Uganda Premier League table does not finish below fifth place at the end of the season.​

"I know this is a huge task but we shall work for it. Honestly that is what we can work for (5th place) but focus on competition for the title will start next season" he said.

"What they (Soana) expects from me this year is to finish among the top five," Isabirye who starts work on Wednesday added.

When introducing Isabirye, club chairman Obedi Smart said he decided to part ways with former coach George William Lutalo due to the club's poor performances.

 

Lutalo won only one game, drew and lost two each in the five games he was charge in all competitions.

Soana  becomes fifth team in the topflight 36-year-old Isabirye has managed after URA FC, SC Victoria, BUL FC and Kirinnya Jinja SS.

He has won two league titles with URA FC and two Uganda Cups trophies with URA FC and SC Victoria University.

Isabirye's first league game will be against his former employees URA at Mehta Stadium in Lugazi on Friday.
