Rev. Fr. John Mary Mwanje has slammed Members of Parliament for their misconduct during the EALA elections on Tuesday.

Fr. Mwanje expressed his displeasure during Ash Wednesday prayers organized by Wakiso LCV Chairman Matia Lwanga Bwanika at the district headquarters.

"When I saw our members of Parliament pushing each other and others nearly fighting, I feared because I do respect our Parliament being one of the strong arms of government on which our country Uganda sits," he said.

He added that MPs are respected by everyone in the country and they should also behave honourably.

On the same occasion, the priest said that theft is on the increase in Wakiso, citing Nansana as the leading suburb, which he said is an indication that people lack the necessary requirements to use in their daily lives.

He therefore advised the people of Wakiso to use this fasting season to give to the poor such that those who break into other people's houses at night due to a lack of what to eat can benefit and stop stealing.

He further pointed out that many marriages are unstable and advised the married to use this fasting season to promote peace in their families by refraining from abusing and also forgiving each other for the 40 days.

Fr. Mwanje hailed Wakiso LCV Chairman Matia Lwanga Bwanika for his continuous advocacy of environmental protection, saying Uganda has started experiencing long droughts due to environmental degradation.
