Ansari and his delegation will hold talks with President Yoweri Museveni at State House Entebbe

India Vice President, Mohammad Hamid Ansari, has arrived in Uganda for a three-day visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between India and Uganda.

 

Ansari, his wife Salma and the Indian business delegation that arrived in the country this evening where received at Entebbe Airport by Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi and other Government officials.

Ansari and his delegation will on Wednesday hold talks with President Yoweri Museveni at State House Entebbe and later address a joint press conference at State House.

 

He will later with the Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda address a joint business forum for Indian and Ugandan business persons at Serena Hotel while his wife will join the First Lady Janet Museveni in Wakiso for UWESO activities.

Ansari will also meet a number of Indian business persons and professionals living in Uganda and will also visit the Source of the Nile before returning to India.

 

Born in Calcutta in 1937 Ansari is the 12th Vice President of India since 2007. He is the grand nephew of former congress president Mukhtar Ahmad Ansari, a leader of the Indian Independence Movement.

A former ambassador and chairman of the National Commission for Minorities from 2006 to 2007, he was re-elected on 7 August 2012.
